Son of famous singer and movie star Dean Martin, Dean Paul Martin was born November 17th, 1951 in Santa Monica, California. As a child, he appeared in Murderer's Row (1966) and A Boy... a Girl (1969), but it was his singing career that garnered him the most fame.

Together with Desi Arnaz Jr., and William "Billy" Hinsche, he was "Dino" in the child pop group Dino Desi and Billy. From 1965 to 1968 they performed for teenage girls with a few hits.

After dropping "Dino", he became a tennis player and served in the National Guard as a pilot.

His first wife was actress Olivia Hussey. They married on April 17th, 1971, and had one son together, Alexander Gunther Martin in 1973. They divorced in 1978. One year later he was nominated for a Golden Globe award for New Star of the Year for his role in Players.

In January 1982 he married worldwide skating sensation Dorothy Hamil. Their marriage only lasted for two years, ending shortly before Misfits aired. During that time, he appeared in Heart Like a Wheel.

He starred as Dr. Billy Hayes in Misfits of Science.

On March 21st, 1987, Dean suffered an untimely death. He and his copilot Ramon Ortiz both died when their National Guard F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed in the San Gorgonio Mountains in California. He was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery. His abrupt death led to his father cancelling a major concert tour with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. and to a decline in his health.
